Description: This engaging keynote address will highlight the importance of afterschool/OST programs for student success and provide participants with the knowledge and skills to most effectively impact a youth's career trajectory through OST programming. This will include strategies for effectively connecting with youth to encourage them to pursue their passions, bringing awareness to youth of currently in-demand skills, and team working methods to engage all stakeholders in a youth's educational journey.

Using Afterschool to Grow Teen Mental Health First Aiders in our Youth Community!

Description: Teen Mental Health First Aid - is an evidence based program by both the World Health Organization (WHO) and SAMSHA. This presentation would help individuals learn how to build tMHFA Programs into their schools from the current practices begin done across the country, including in Clark County, and in other countries. Form one of the individuals on the ground helping developers adapt and adjust the program to fit the needs of the US school system, as well as school systems like CCSD which are complex in its size and diversity.

Green Boxes and incorporating STEAM for Nevada

Description: DRI's Science Alive Program distributes Green Boxes which are self-contained teaching kits that provide educators with two or more weeks worth of lesson plans along with all of the supplies necessary to conduct each activity. Every box uses active learning strategies to engage students in hands-on projects that foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills. These lessons are designed to enhance student literacy in various STEM subject areas, from water conservation in the Desert Southwest to the environmental impact associated with natural resource extraction. Best of all, this resource is offered FREE of cost to any formal or informal educator in Nevada! We will be discussing our program, how to utilize Green Boxes in formal and informal programs as well as exploring an activity from a Green Box.
